Beginning in the 1990s, his operation reportedly generated nearly $270 million. In 2008, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

In 2008, both were sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. However, the COVID-19 pandemic changed their circumstances, as both requested release due to the virus spreading within prisons.
Terry Flenory, also known as Southwest T, was granted his request and was released to serve the remainder of his sentence on house arrest. His release gained attention when Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson shared the news on Instagram, saying, "Black Mafia Boss Southwest T is out. Take your time getting to the bank, no hurry, just have what you owe him by Monday."
50 Cent has been promoting an eight-episode series on the Black Mafia Family for Starz, which will tell the story of the Detroit brothers who built a massive drug empire and later attempted to legitimize their business through the hip-hop industry, promoting artists like Young Jeezy. Their empire collapsed when they were convicted of running a criminal enterprise that generated over $270 million.
Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory's attorney, Wade Fink, is fighting for his release due to medical conditions that make him vulnerable to COVID-19. Fink describes Demetrius as "loyal, humble, and a good person at his core," now aiming to use his influence for good. The U.S. Attorney, however, opposes his release, citing his involvement in past violent crimes, including the suspected murder of two men, one of whom was a bodyguard for Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs.
"At 51, he wants to use the stature he's built for positive change, and I believe that because I've gotten to know him," said Fink. "The person who doesn’t know him is the United States Attorney."
